Shawn Mullins
9th Ward Pickin' Parlor
[Vanguard]

Review:

Shawn Mullins' debut release for Vanguard Records marks a return to the acoustic sound featured on Mullins' early solo recordings.  9th Ward Pickin' Parlor is named for the singer-songwriter's home studio in New Orleans where much of the CD was recorded.  The folk-oriented recording is one of Mullins' best releases to date featuring compelling songs with a confident delivery. The CD closes with a cover of "House of the Rising Sun" - a song set in New Orleans and a nice addition to round out the recording.

Song Highlights:
Beautiful Wreck
Faith
Talkin' Goin' To Alaska Blues
Kelly's Song
House Of The Rising Sun
