Review:

On March 7, 2006, Texas roots-music veteran Lee Roy Parnell released his latest CD entitled Back to the Well. Parnell's latest release continues the alternative country approach featured on his last CD - 2001's Tell The Truth. Once a stalwart of mainstream Nashville, Parnell has moved in a different musical direction since leaving Arista Records in 1999.  Simply stated, we love his latest CD. The funky opener is a clear indication that Parnell no longer worships at the alter of the country music establishment.  The tracks flow from there and the result is a refreshing mix of country, rock, blues, gospel and soul.

In many respects, Parnell has chosen the same musical path as contemporaries such as Rodney Crowell and Marty Stuart. As Nashville abandons many of its established artists for the next new thing, their loss is quickly becoming Americana's gain.

Song Highlights:
Back to the Well
Something Out of Nothing
Don't Water It Down
Breaking the Chain
The Hunger
That's All There Is
Cool Breeze
