Review:

From time to time a CD crosses our path that makes us say "Wow! - Now that's what I'm talking about!" The latest release from Wrinkle Neck Mules is just one of those CDs. Entitled Pull The Brake, this latest CD from the Virginia-based band is a perfect mix of alternative country, bluegrass and folk. Think early Uncle Tupelo and Whiskeytown mixed with a little Drive-By Truckers and sweetened with a dose of Hank Williams, Sr. There are so many great tracks on this CD that it's hard to pinpoint a few highlights. The opening track "Liza" sets the mood for the CD. "Sugar and Sunshine" has a roots-rock feel that provides a nice contrast with some of the CD's quieter moments. "Lowlight" is another notable track which features a collaboration with Bonnie "Prince" Billy.

Song Highlights:
Liza
Okeechobee
Dust of Saturday
Sugar and Sunshine
Lowlight
San Gabriel
True to the Vine
Mecklenburg County
When Things Unravel
Put Your Guitars Where Your Mouth Is
