Here's what happened in the world of Americana music this week:  

The Redwood City Daily News in San Mateo County, California recently featured an interview with Blue Rodeo.  Co-founder Jim Cuddy discussed the differences between the band's American and Canadian audiences.  

Former Green on Red frontman Chuck Prophet gave an interview with Scott Mervis of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about his latest CD "Soap and Water" and his Waylon Jennings' tribute "Dreaming Waylon's Dreams."

Austin alt-country band The Gougers announced that they will release their latest CD for free on the band's website.  

Steve Forbert and Fred Eaglesmith spoke with The Times Argus in Barre/Montpelier, VT about the Roots on the River festival held in Bellows Falls, VT this weekend.  Other artists attending the festival include The Bottle Rockets, Sara Borges and Robbie Fulks.

The Infamous Stringdusters spoke with the City Paper in Nashville, TN about their new self-titled CD produced by Tim O'Brien.

Sarah Dugas of The Duhks spoke with the Florida Times Union about the band's new lineup and playing with John Paul Jones at Merlefest. 

Jambase.com reviewed "Loaded," the latest release from The Waybacks.  

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle took a look at the Alison Krauss and Robert Plant tour in support of their CD "Raising Sand." 

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette featured an interview with James McMurtry and a retrospective of his career.

Billboard reported that Calexico will release its next album on September 9. The CD will be entitled "Carried to Dust."
